Tim Watkins has an amazing historical 'descent' graph for the late-British empire. If you want to cast an eye, perhaps you can reach his article here? https://consciousnessofsheep.co.uk/2024/01/25/when-empires-die/

Starts promisingly: "Four empires died in just two years, 1916 to 1918 ... "

Wasn't it in the movie "The Lives of Others" that the Stasi raided an apartment, looking for a typewriter?

Long ago, in Italy, the police used to raid the rooms of leftist groups that contained the cyclostyle machines, and smash them to the floor. It may well be that the Stasi was even more ruthless than that, but a typewriter can make a most five copies of a document. Not enough to start a revolution!

On the other hand, Martin Luther nailed his "Theses" on the door of a Church. Maybe the police should seize nails and hammers!

Btw, those who enjoyed Hugh Howey's famous Silo books and like the samizdat idea can read Michael Bunker's Silo Archipelago ;)
