He would never get that close to the action.

The equivalent of George W. Bush landing on a carrier dressed as a military pilot.

From a different perspective, the 2nd civil war was predictable: since ~2002 the US police has been trained by the Israeli army, in all of the techniques now summarized as genocide. It implies seeing every human as terrorist unless proven otherwise (that is, when given the opportunity). My late friend the therapist even showed the photos of US cops training to shoot women and children at first sight - without hesitation.

Many more early-warning links on the issue exist, and as the US population is the world's best armed one, a tipping point could have been reached, motto, "enough is enough".

My friend treated military personnel who got traumatized by what they were ordered to do. Just imagine what the stories she had to listen to, did to her. But that was just the start: the system got "professionalized", implying the selection of candidates without a shred of conscience or empathy - including Israelis. DJT's Chabad membership in this development couldn't be worse.

During that era, DARPA even had a research program on production of / modification to - soldiers without conscience.

a practical matter, to be sure...

Yes, hence the change to development of war robots.

I read a poem a few minutes ago. The central verse put the sense neatly, following the poet's acuity, sharp while making the coffee looking out into the dawn. Ashley@Briefly (I do not know yet much about this lady who is waking in California).

"Weather fronts and mass moods

inevitable and unknowable

spark an urge to call my children."

US liberals will do what they do, as you say, but as one sanely puts it, 'Never Feed the Monster', and he doesn't mean the current man. I read his occasional communications, mostly to his friends. markvanlaeys from Us AND them.

In my old age I am gaining a strong remaining preference for uncertainty. Smile.

The man killed by a US Border Patrol officer in Minneapolis was an ICU nurse, family says

Family members say the man killed by a U.S. Border Patrol officer in Minneapolis on Saturday was an intensive care nurse at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital who cared deeply about people and was upset by President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown in his city.

Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed getting in adventures with Joule, his beloved Catahoula Leopard dog who also recently died. He had participated in protests following the killing of Renee Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs officer on Jan. 7.

“He cared about people deeply and he was very upset with what was happening in Minneapolis and throughout the United States with ICE, as millions of other people are upset,” said Michael Pretti, Alex’s father. “He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong, so he did participate in protests.”

Pretti was a U.S. citizen, born in Illinois. Like Good, court records showed he had no criminal record and his family said he had never had any interactions with law enforcement beyond a handful of traffic tickets...

..The Department of Homeland Security said that the man was shot after he “approached” Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun. Officials did not specify if Pretti brandished the gun, and it is not visible in bystander video of the shooting obtained by The Associated Press.

Family members said Pretti owned a handgun and had a permit to carry a concealed handgun in Minnesota. They said they had never known him to carry it...

..Alex Pretti grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he played football, baseball and ran track for Preble High School. He was a Boy Scout and sang in the Green Bay Boy Choir.

After graduation, he went to the University of Minnesota, graduating in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in biology, society and the environment, according to the family. He worked as a research scientist before returning to school to become a registered nurse. https://abc3340.com/news/nation-world/the-man-killed-by-a-us-border-patrol-officer-in-minneapolis-was-an-icu-nurse-family-says-01-24-2026

Video from 2 angles: , He held a camera, and never drew any weapon. Was it a "throw-down" handgun? ICE mob beat him up on the ground after he tried to get between them and somebody else they were beating, then they shot him until he was good and dead as he tried to stand up. Alex "violently resisted arrest", they said. I didn't see that. Drop Site News: Leaked audio from Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodríguez revealed that in the minutes following the kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro, U.S. officials explicitly threatened her life and that of other ranking Chavista figures if they did not cooperate.

"The threats began from the very first minute they kidnapped the president. They gave Diosdado Cabello [the interior minister], Jorge [Rodríguez, head of the National Assembly] and me 15 minutes to respond, or they would kill us.” https://x.com/DropSiteNews/status/2015098250127188029

Another interesting take, Ugo. Thanks for the read.

You're probably familiar with Dmitry Orlov and his view that the break-up of the US was inevitable, and will be far worse for the US citizenry than what happened to people during the Soviet break-up (not that it wasn't absolutely horrible for Russians, if survivable.) Given that some are predicting today is "Black Sunday" (the yen carry trade snaps, the REPO facility collapses, etc. etc.), the economic pressures on the US could intensify dramatically as early as tomorrow, amidst a "killer storm" engulfing the country, with about 190 million affected, even as gold crosses into $5000 territory (and silver above $100.) And that's just this week.

How do you see this progressing in the short and long term?

Ugo:

I will always be a follower, have been for years now, but I think that you are a little out over your skis on this one.

I have no issue with saying there will be a civil war, but I think we have miles to go before we sleep. I think that we are at the equivalent of around 1848, both here in the US and even, for that matter, Europe.

Right. The fact I published Timothy's piece here doesn't mean I agree 100% with it. I do think it is a little over the top. But I thought it was nevertheless an interesting piece. He had published it as a comment to a post of mine on FB, and I thought it deserved more visibility. Then, those who predict the future are predicted by the future -- that is, they are predictably wrong! (including myself!!)
